Research

„One of the very important realizations I have come to is that jumping into the unknown and facing unfamiliarity creates a deep sense of loss inside me, but that nothing learned through experience is ever really lost.“

I am currently undertaking an Arts Practice PhD at the University of Limerick, exploring themes of musical identity and creative processes for unfolding one’s own. As an arts practice researcher, my own violin practice is central to the inquiry. This research brings together practical exploration and theoretical reflection, allowing me to investigate my questions through embodied experience.

To utilize my practice as a form of critical research and ensure its transparency, I document it through a range of methods including narrative inquiry, autoethnographic writing, arts-based techniques (such as poetry), self-reflexive analysis, and personal memory data. These approaches support the development of my voice as a researcher, artist, and violinist.

Bringing together my background as a classically trained violinist, ethnographic documentation, and contextual research, the project offers an in-depth perspective on musical identity and contemporary practice. At its core are two major original works, accompanied by comprehensive documentation and critical reflection.
